Why you may be getting ghosted after sending your prices.
You get an inquiry from a bride who seems SO excited to work with you. She loves your work, asks if you’re available for her date, you send over your pricing and then… nothing. Suddenly you’re questioning everything. Is my pricing too high? Should I lower it? Is everyone else charging less than me?
Before you touch your pricing, I want you to look at the experience that bride had with your business before she ever saw that number. Because sometimes your prices are not actually the problem. The problem is that your brand hasn’t given her enough reasons to understand why you’re worth them yet.
If you want to charge luxury prices, your business needs to look and feel like a luxury business. And I don’t mean you need a beige website with the word “luxury” written everywhere lol. I mean your potential client should be able to look at your business and immediately see that you are established, professional, trustworthy, talented and worth investing in!
Your bride needs to be sold before she ever sees the price
Think about how a bride is currently finding you. Maybe she sees one of your Reels, clicks onto your Instagram, scrolls for a few minutes and sends you a DM asking for your pricing. You send back $400 for bridal makeup and suddenly she disappears.
The problem is that $400 is now doing all of the talking for you.
She might not know that you’ve been doing bridal makeup for eight years, that you specialize in the exact natural soft glam she has been searching for, that you have 75 five-star reviews, that you have an incredibly organized wedding morning process or that your brides constantly talk about how calm and comfortable you made them feel. She just knows that one makeup artist told her $250 and you told her $400.
Your website should be filling in all of those gaps before she ever inquires. I want her to see your work, read about your experience, understand your signature style, see what makes your process different, read reviews from real brides and actually start picturing herself working with you. Then when she sees your pricing, she isn’t deciding whether makeup is “worth $400.” She is deciding whether working with you is worth $400, and that is a completely different decision.
Your brand needs to match the level you’re trying to book
This is probably one of the biggest things I see when beauty artists come to me. Their actual work is AMAZING, but their online presence does not represent it.
Maybe you have outgrown the logo you made when you first started. Maybe your website has photos from three years ago mixed with screenshots and random fonts. Maybe your Instagram looks beautiful, but then someone clicks your website and it feels like an entirely different business. Or maybe you don’t have a website at all, so your potential clients are trying to piece together who you are, what you offer and how to book you from Instagram highlights.
Meanwhile, you’re trying to raise your prices and attract a bride who is willing to spend more.
There has to be consistency there. Your brand does not need to look expensive just for the sake of looking pretty. It needs to give someone confidence that the person they are about to send hundreds or thousands of dollars to knows what she is doing.
This is why when I design for a beauty artist, I’m thinking about way more than what colors look cute together. I’m thinking about who you want to book, what you want to be known for, what makes your services different, what your ideal client needs to see before she trusts you and how we can make the entire brand feel like the next level of your business.
Social proof is doing way more selling than you think
You can tell me you’re amazing all day long, but when I see bride after bride saying it for you? Now I believe you.
Social proof should be EVERYWHERE on your website. I don’t want one tiny testimonials page that nobody clicks on. I want reviews worked into the experience so your potential client is constantly being reminded that other people have already trusted you, paid your prices and were happy that they did.
And this is something I’ve seen in my own business too. I can tell a beauty artist that a strategic website can help her book more clients, but it is a lot more powerful when I can show her what has actually happened after my clients launched.
I’ve had a client book seven brides the week her website launched. Another told me that around 98% of her bookings were coming through her website. One of my clients made her entire website investment back within weeks. Another saw a 25% increase in leads during her first week after launch. One had an 83% close rate, and another bridal artist doubled her bridal income after launching her website and booked more weddings for the following year than she had in any previous year of her 13-year career.
THAT is social proof.
Your brides need that same reassurance from you. Show the reviews. Show the transformations. Show the brides. Show the beautiful professional photos. Show them that other people have already had an amazing experience with you.
You’re removing some of the risk they feel when they are deciding whether to hand over their money.
You don’t necessarily need more inquiries. You need better ones.
This is a big one because everyone is always talking about getting more leads, more inquiries, more DMs, more website traffic.
But I don’t want you getting 50 inquiries every month if 45 of them are going to disappear the second they see your pricing. That is exhausting.
I would rather you have fewer inquiries from people who have already spent time on your website, know what you specialize in, have seen your work, read your reviews, understand the experience and are genuinely excited about hiring you.
That is why your website should filter people too.
If you specialize in natural, skin-focused bridal makeup, say it. If you want to work with brides having luxury destination weddings, show that. If your minimum booking requirement starts at a certain amount, communicate it. If your pricing starts at $500 and someone has a $150 budget, it is actually better for both of you if she figures that out before spending 20 minutes filling out your inquiry form.
A good website isn’t supposed to convince every person who lands on it to book you. It should make the right person feel even more confident about booking you.
Your booking process should feel easy too
Once you have gotten someone excited enough to inquire, pleaseeee make the next step simple.
She should know what happens after she fills out the form, when she can expect to hear from you, how she secures her date and what she needs to do next. If your website feels gorgeous and professional but then your booking process feels confusing or disorganized, you can lose some of the trust you just spent all that time building.
This is why I’m such a big believer in creating the entire experience intentionally. Your website, inquiry form, emails, pricing guide and booking process should all feel like they belong to the same business.
You want your bride thinking, “Oh my gosh, she has this DOWN.”
Because especially with weddings, people are not only paying for talent. They are paying for the confidence that you are going to show up, know what you’re doing and make their wedding morning easier.
This is literally why I created Website in a Day
One of the biggest reasons beauty artists put off getting a professional website is because it sounds like this huge months-long project that they do not have time for.
That is exactly why I created my Website in a Day service.
We literally take your business from “I know I’ve outgrown this” to a completely new online presence in ONE DAY.
Before our day together, you fill out my questionnaire and upload your photos so I can learn your business, your goals, your style and the clients you actually want to attract. Then on our project day, we kick off in the morning and I spend the day creating your new brand and website while you go about your day and send me feedback through email.
I’m not handing you a template and telling you to figure it out. I’m designing the website, helping refine your messaging, setting up your SEO, making sure everything works beautifully on mobile, connecting your domain and creating an actual brand that feels cohesive from the second someone lands on your site.
My Website in a Day package includse five pages and a complete logo suite with a primary logo, secondary logo and submark.
By the end of ONE day, you can go from having an online presence you’re kind of embarrassed to send people to, to having a website that actually feels like the business you have been trying to become.
A pretty website is great. A website that changes your business is better.
Obviously I am a designer. I want your website to be gorgeous. I want you to open it on your phone just because you want to stare at it lol, but that is not the end goal.
I want you to send your pricing without immediately wondering whether someone is going to disappear. I want potential clients to come into your inbox already understanding what you do and why you’re different. I want you to feel confident raising your rates when your experience and demand support it. I want you to become known for your signature work instead of feeling like you are competing with every other artist in your area.
And most importantly, I want your business to be able to get discovered and book clients without you feeling like you need to post on Instagram 24/7 just to stay relevant.
That is why the client transformations matter so much to me. The goal isn’t just “look at her cute new website!” It is what happens AFTER.
More qualified leads. Better-fit brides. More confidence in your pricing. More bookings. More money coming into the business. More freedom to actually enjoy the business you worked so hard to build.
So if you’re getting ghosted after sending your prices, I wouldn’t immediately assume the answer is to lower them.
Look at what your potential client is seeing before she gets there. Does your brand look like the level you’re charging? Does your website make your value obvious? Does she understand what makes you different? Is there enough social proof for her to trust you? Does the entire experience make her excited to work with you?
Because your website shouldn’t just tell people how to book you.
It should make the right person want to.
Ready for your website to start doing some of the selling for you?
If you know your work is worth your pricing but your website just isn’t showing it yet, this is exactly what my Website in a Day service is for. In one day, we’ll create a completely elevated, strategic website that shows off your work, builds trust with potential clients, makes your value clear and helps the right people feel confident reaching out to you. You already did the hard part of becoming amazing at what you do, now let’s make sure your website actually shows it. Check out Website in a Day and let’s create a website that makes people want to book you before they even hit inquire!!
